Ingredients for Urad Dal Dahi Vada – Ingredients
For the recipe of making Dahi Bade of Urad Dal, follow the ingredients given below.
Urad dal: 1 cup
Green chilli: 3-4
Ginger: 1 inch piece
Asafoetida: 1 pinch
Cumin: 1/2 tsp
salt to taste
Oil for frying: as required
For curd:
Curd: 2 cups
salt to taste
Cumin Powder: 1/2 tsp
Chaat masala: 1/2 tsp
Green Coriander: 2-3 teaspoons, finely chopped
For spices:
Cumin: 1 tsp
Red chilli powder: 1/2 tsp
Chaat masala: 1/4 tsp
Black salt: 1/4 tsp
Method of making urad dal curd bade
Preparing Dal:

Soak 1 cup urad dal in water for 5-6 hours in a vessel.
After soaking, wash the lentils thoroughly and drain the water.
Put it in mixer and grind it finely.
Add 3-4 finely chopped green chillies, 1 inch piece of ginger, 1 pinch of asafoetida, 1/2 tsp cumin and salt as per taste to the ground lentils.
Mix all the spices well with the lentils and keep covered for 10 minutes.

- Large Fry (15 minutes):

Heat oil in a pan. To check that the oil is moderately hot, you can check it by adding a little pulse.
You can, if it pops up immediately then the oil is at the correct temperature.
Lightly wet your hands and make small round or slightly flat balls from the dal mixture.
Slowly put these vadas in hot oil and fry on medium flame till they become golden brown.
Take out the fried vadas on a plate or strainer to remove excess oil.

Take 2 cups of fresh curd in a bowl. Add salt as per taste, 1/2 tsp cumin powder, 1/2 tsp
Add chaat masala and 2-3 spoons of finely chopped coriander and mix well. The curd should be slightly thick.

Keep the fried badas in a plate.
Add prepared curd on top and spread it evenly.
Sprinkle some roasted cumin, red chili powder, chaat masala and black salt (as desired) on top.
